Mecano est un selkirk shorthair blue point heterozygote : c'est un fils de Fawn-Tastic Wizard of Oz (selkirk shorthair blue point) et de Destiny from Box of Tricks (british shorthair seal point). Il est né en Hollande à la chatterie Gelfling's à Halsteren le 9 février 2007, chez Monsieur Stefan van Dessel. Il est identifié génétiquement.
